Brown & Brown is seeking a Programmer Analyst – Level I for our team in Garden City, New York.
Wright Risk Management LLC, a division of Brown & Brown, serves as a management company providing claims administration, risk management & loss control, underwriting & marketing, and client services in New York for the NY Schools Insurance Reciprocal (NYSIR), NY Municipal Insurance Reciprocal (NYMIR) and the national education program for Wright Specialty Insurance.
Programmer Analyst gathers and analyzes user specifications and requirements – working with Business Analysts and / or third party vendors as necessary. Encodes, tests, debugs, and documents computer programs/applications/systems, usually on projects of small to moderate scale and complexity. Revises and updates programs/applications/systems and associated documentation as required.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Consult with business users and business analysts to verify specifications/requirements
- Perform requirements gathering and analysis where required
- Develop technical specifications and documentation
- Maintains familiarity with new technology / technology standards and how they can be applied
- Designs, codes, tests and debugs database applications in SQL Server / Windows environment
- Designs, codes, tests and debugs database applications in SQL Server / Azure environment
- Designs, codes, tests and debugs various BI reports utilizing Windows SSRS, Power BI, and other third party tools
- Designs, codes, tests and debugs various data feeds and ETL processes
- Interfaces with external vendors to address issues / enhance vendor supplied applications when necessary
- Perform light to moderate project management duties on technical projects when necessary
- Adhere to departmental / corporate policy and procedures pertaining to IT Operations
- Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, MIS or related discipline preferred or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 2 years application development experience in WINDOWS environment required
- Familiarity working in insurance industry (P&C, Professional Liability, Workers Comp) preferred
- Experience building / maintaining moderate to complex database applications on enterprise RDBMS utilizing SQL
- Experience with enterprise database management systems, MS SQLServer preferred
- Experience with Object Oriented concepts and languages required, Java and/or .NET preferred
- Experience with script programming helpful
- Experience with BI / Enterprise Reporting Tools, SSRS preferred
- Experience with web development languages and knowledge of web-development architecture preferred
- Experience working with data warehouses and developing BI applications from them
- Familiarity with data warehouse concepts and structures
- Familiarity with Cloud environments – Azure preferred
- Familiarity working with source control tools
- Familiarity working with Help Desk applications and queues. JIRA / Track It preferred
- Must be detail-oriented and have good organizational skills
