About the Program and Restorative Case Specialist:
Share our belief that all have the ability to change by using a strengths-based approach to helping stabilize families involved in the child welfare/foster care system. Use your passion and commitment to helping others in order to make a difference in the lives of families.
Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Diversion Programs, the Restorative Case Specialist will provide home and community-based services to juvenile justice involved youth ages seven to seventeen in Cayuga County. The overall goal is to prevent out-of-home placement and the youth’s involvement with the juvenile justice system by providing family and individual support.
How you get to use your skills as a Restorative Case Specialist…

Provide youth involved with the juvenile justice system an alternative to detention through the use of intensive case management, restorative justice efforts, and Motivational Interviewing as an evidenced-based tool to implement long-term behavior change

Address specific needs of youth and their families through an integrated and coordinated systems of care

Create a service plan that will drive the provision of restorative case management services and is delivered in a manner that is trauma informed and strengths based

Assist in crisis de-escalation for cases including on call services after hours and complete appropriate reporting procedures

Maintain and build upon primary family and community connections including other service providers

Facilitate groups/restorative circles as a safe and open forum to bring together youth, those directly impacted by their actions and the wider community

Conduct curfew checks as assigned

Review all reports of youth attendance and location

Complete all required documentation including Connections Notes and FASP’s

Attend weekly individual supervision with Assistant Director of Diversion Programs

Provide weekly program data as requested/required

Attend all required meetings with Cayuga County stakeholders and systems of care
Required Experience for a Restorative Case Specialist:
-
Associate's Degree in a related Human Services Field – required
-
Bachelor’s - preferred
-
Experience with youth demonstrating antisocial and delinquent behavior
-
Experience working with children and families in a community-based setting
-
Excellent communication and organizational skills
-
Ability and willingness to work with families in an “in-home” context

Belief in the capacity of people to grow and change

Flexibility to work when the youth/families are available to meet

Possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude needed to appreciate and encourage diversity, and understand the concept of cultural trauma as it applies to individual and family functioning

Valid NYS Driver’s License

Vehicle required. Must be safe and dependable
Physical Requirements for a Restorative Case Specialist:

Driving to and from appointments and activities as assigned

Sitting for extended periods of time

Walking up and down stairs inside/outside

Must have ability to type and hand-write documentation and maintain proper files

Ability to lift 50lbs
