Job Description: DEPARTMENT: Student Affairs APPOINTMENT: 12-Month, Temporary/Funded REPORTS TO: Dean of Students/CDO LOCATION: Dual Campus The Adult Learner Coach is a member of an integrated college team providing individual academic and personal support to an assigned group of community college students as they progress through their program of study. The Adult Learner Coach will support adult learner students (ages 25+) to help them persist and meet their academic goals. This position will be responsible for the implementation and facilitation of Reconnect here at Cayuga. Occasional work evenings and weekends may be required. Primary Duties: - Delivers comprehensive advisement support services to an assigned group of adult learner students;
- Research and implement best practices in working with adult learner students.
- Oversee the implementation of SUNY Reconnect scholarship at Cayuga.
- Support the recruitment efforts for new Reconnect eligible students
- Provide student-centered case management services to Cayuga Reconnect eligible students.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to facilitate the process for review of student scholarship eligibility.
- Develop and implement workshops and programming customized for the adult learner.
- Conducts regular outreach to faculty and other college staff as needed to support student success;
- Maintains accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned student, recommending appropriate referrals and opportunity programs;
- Participate in college recruitment and community events as necessary. Organizes periodic special events and programs for students, faculty and staff;
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements: - Bachelor's required; Master's preferred. Cayuga Community College accepts only degree credentials from accredited institutions recognized by the United States Secretary of Education and the New York State Department of Education.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in student services/development, academic advising, counseling or human services.
- Strong understanding of the diverse needs of community college students
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong organization, project management and facilitation skills;
- Ability to enter, monitor and interpret student data accurately;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Access); and aptitude to learn new systems as needed.
Additional Information: Position is state funded through August 2026. Contingent on continued funding.
