Job Description:

Primary Purpose: The Prison Education Program (PEP) Coordinator manages Cayuga Community College's Prison Education Program. This position will work collaboratively with the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), prospective and current PEP students, PEP instructors, and college administration to facilitate the program.

Essential Functions:

Serve as liaison between the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and the College to facilitate program coordination, procedural requirements, and student eligibility and recruitment.
Ensure student admissions paperwork is complete and official high school transcripts, high school equivalencies, and college transcripts are requested, received, and processed.
Maintain accurate and updated program records.
Collaborate with Student Financial Services for financial aid and billing needs.
Work with stakeholders to manage program budget.
Hold office hours on a consistent basis within each of the Cayuga Community College PEP facilities to answer questions, provide academic planning and advisement, work with instructors, and assist instructor needs.
Coordinate student supportive services at each facility.
Organize PEP-related events in collaboration with stakeholders.
Monitor DOCCS approved student communication platforms for academic purposes.
Participate in the SUNY Higher Education in Prison community of practice.
Teach within the PEP, as applicable.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required with a Master's degree preferred.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation.

Must be cleared by DOCCS as condition of employment and maintain this status.

Ability to work a flexible work schedule including evening hours.

Experience working with justice-involved population preferred.

Demonstrates sensitivity, knowledge and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender identity, sexual orientation, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of our students.
