About Cayuga Community College: Cayuga Community College, a unit of the State University of New York with locations in the cities of Auburn and Fulton, is a two-year community college sponsored by Cayuga County. Committed to being the community college for both Cayuga and Oswego counties, the College offers transfer and career-oriented curricula on a degree and certificate basis through day, evening, online, and summer sessions. For groups such as high school students, government agencies, retirees, and industrial, business and professional personnel, the College also offers credit and credit-free specialized instruction according to need and interest.
DEPARTMENT: Public Safety APPOINTMENT: 12 months (Civil Service Part-Time) REPORTS TO: Director of Facility Services and Public Safety
GENERAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Directs and routes traffic on campus 2. Vehicle Patrol of the parking lots and College owned property including the Nature Trail. 3. Parking enforcement. 4.Issues' warning notices and tickets to vehicles and drivers in violation of parking regulations. 5. Foot patrol inside all campus buildings including all levels of the library, recreation areas, lounges, etc. Getting to know the students and faculty using the Community Policing concept. 6. Conduct monthly inspections of campus Life Safety Systems (fire extinguishers, emergency lights). 7. Note safety discrepancies such as broken equipment, exterior lights out, etc. and complete a maintenance request form. 8. Submits daily logs and, on occasion, detailed narrative reports, enters reports on computer. 9. Documents all incidents on the appropriate forms (Campus Police Reports on computer) 10. Responds to all calls for Campus Police/Security. Investigates incidents. Takes statements when necessary. 11. Provides escorts to students, faculty and staff upon request. 12. Provides security at athletic events. 13. Make regular checks of building and grounds to ensure that locks, doors and windows are secure. 14. Give directions and other assistance to visitors and students when necessary. 15. Provide vehicle jump-starts when requested to do so utilizing the battery booster PAC owned by the college (waiver must be signed by the requester). 16. Attempt to unlock vehicles that keys have been locked in (waiver must be signed by requester). 17. Become familiar with all campus alarm systems and be able to arm and disarm systems when necessary. 18. Investigates violations of College policies. 19. Performs other duties related to security as assigned by the Director of Facilities Services and Public Safety. Reports to either the Fulton or Auburn Campuses at the direction of the Director of Facilities Services and Public Safety.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Graduation from high school or possession of a High School Equivalency Certificate. 2. Possess current New York State driver's license. From date of employment, must maintain a valid NYS Driver's License. 3. Must complete certified New York Security Guard training within six months of employment and must maintain registration with the New Yok Department of State as a Security Guard.
