Job Summary:
The Senior Vice President of Inclusive Growth is the organization’s lead executive for driving positive impact and outcomes in the CenterState region. This position holds a set of responsibilities similar to what might be found in other organizations with a chief economic development office, chief program officer, and other executive-level functions around program excellence and accountability. As one of six Senior Vice Presidents within the organization, the SVP of Inclusive Growth has purview over the majority of the organization’s direct programs, services, and initiatives, including core areas of business expansion, business retention, business attraction, business incubation and acceleration, workforce development, community investment and prosperity, and cluster development.

Strategy
- As a member of the corporate leadership team, the SVP operates with an elevated level of independence, initiative, and professional expertise and is a key driver of the organization’s vision, strategy, mission, and initiatives.
- Coordinate the various roles associated with the Inclusive Growth team, minimizing silos of systems and data.
- Ensure resource allocation and long-range planning and sustainability.
- Collaborates with the SVP of Member and Business Experience (MBX) to coordinate support for small business members.
- Ensures portfolios are coordinated and collaborating effectively.
Leadership
- The SVP actively manages, recruits, and develops staff for the Inclusive Growth team.
- The SVP will manage the use of external vendors and contractors when needed.
- Upholds the organization’s mission, vision, and values of collaboration, integrity, inclusion, agility, and accountability and ensures they are embodied and pursued throughout the entirety of the organization.
- Contributes to advancing the organization’s strategic principles of business competitiveness, community prosperity, equity, sustainability, continuous improvement, customer service, talent excellence, and brand awareness.
- Communicates directly with the Board of Directors when necessary, regarding strategic portfolio plans and updates. Represents the portfolio at Board of Directors and other strategic meetings.
- Assures the organization and its mission, programs, products, and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image.
- Builds a culture of excellence.
- Acts as the portfolio representative to the public and participates in leadership briefings, media briefings, presentations, speeches, and meetings. Represents CenterState CEO at assigned special functions and delivers speeches when requested.
Operations
- Responsible for the effective operations of the Inclusive Growth team.
- Provides oversight of all program areas and cost centers associated with the portfolio, including the development of budgets, P/L review, grant administration, and reporting.
- Ensures operational efficiency through budget adherence, timely completion of projects, and effective resource allocation.
- Shares staffing responsibilities for CenterState CEO’s Nominating Committee.
Economic Development
- Provides strategic oversight, guidance, and ensures inter-team coordination around business expansion efforts throughout the organization.
- Leads business attraction and lead-prospecting activities.
- Coordinates with the Strategy, Policy, and Planning team on accountability metrics.
- Consistently seeks to conceptualize, vet, and deploy innovative practices and approaches to economic development activities.
- Measures success through the number of businesses supported, amount of capital raised, and percentage growth in business revenues.
Economic Inclusion
- Provides strategic oversight, guidance, and ensures inter-team coordination for workforce development, community investment and prosperity, workforce innovation, and other associated programming.
- Acts as the organization’s lead in interacting with stakeholders, funders, and other partners on the organization’s work in relation to workforce development, community investment and prosperity, workforce innovation, and other associated programming.
- Coordinates the team’s demand-driven workforce programming efforts in alignment with the SVP of Member and Business Experience.
- Emphasizes equity and increasing DEI in all programs at Tech Garden and in the workforce.
- Tracks workforce development success through the number of individuals trained, job placements achieved, and retention rates of program participants.
- Monitors community investment by the amount of funds allocated to community projects, number of projects completed, and measurable improvements in community infrastructure.
Innovation & Entrepreneurship
- As the leader of the team managing the Tech Garden facility:
- Provides leadership guidance and support to the effective operations of the Tech Garden.
- Leads resource development, including a significant role in developing outside partnerships and securing sustainable funding.
- Building relationships with and supporting Tech Garden tenants and industry engagement.
- Evaluates innovation and entrepreneurship success by the number of startups incubated, amount of funding secured for startups, and successful commercialization of new technologies.
Revenue Development
- Works with the corporate leadership team and the Board of Directors to expand, retain, and attract business opportunities in a manner that maximizes the region’s competitive advantages.
- Assesses economic impact through overall economic growth in the region, increase in employment rates, and improvement in regional competitiveness.
Supervisory Responsibility
Manages and supervises the team, including writing annual performance evaluations and ensuring staff training and professional development.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. but can be flexible as agreed to by portfolio leads.
Travel
Up to 25% time may be spent in local, regional, nationwide, and international travel.
