This position is located on the Cornell University Campus in Ithaca, New York. This is a hybrid position where you will be expected to work on the Ithaca campus minimally three days per week. The other two days, you may be permitted to perform a portion of you work remotely, based on business needs and performance.

What you will do:
The Compliance and Policy Specialist (CPS), with oversight from the Compliance Manager (CM), is primarily responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the university compliance program, institutional risk management program, university policy administration, and related initiatives across all campuses of the university. The CPS works with unit staff (“compliance partners” and “risk partners”) across the university who are responsible for regulatory compliance and risk reduction activities. These activities include compliance and risk matrices, policy development support, committee infrastructures, and business processes that support timely and accurate compliance and risk mitigation activities, compliance with laws, regulatory requirements, and university policies and procedures. The CPS works with the University Compliance Office (UCO) team to create a transparent compliance and risk-aware environment and to administer efficient and effective services and deliverables.

You are a dedicated, responsive professional that strives to provide a high level of service to the campus internal and external stakeholders and continuously strives to expand your subject-matter expertise. You understand compliance frameworks and their applicability to higher education and have a familiarity with risk rating and compliance modeling. You also understand risk-based compliance assessments and root cause analysis and possess the ability to identify and assess compliance risks. You are a critical thinker and have strong analytical skills to solve problems and interpret data trends. You have a passion for and/or a demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing with an ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
