As Cornell University’s online learning unit, eCornell delivers online professional certificate courses to individuals and organizations around the world. Courses are personally developed by Cornell faculty with expertise in a wide range of topics, including data analytics, management, marketing, human resources, leadership, and STEM. Students learn in an interactive, small cohort format to gain skills they can immediately apply in their organizations, while earning a professional certificate from Cornell University. eCornell has offered online learning courses and certificate programs for 15 years to over 130,000 students at more than 2,000 companies.
The Opportunity:
The Program Facilitation Manager, STEM Programs is an instrumental role in the growth and maturation of eCornell’s online learning experience. This person will serve a multifaceted function involving governance for the facilitation of eCornell's large body of expert-led programs. The focus of the role will be on heading the growth and professionalization of eCornell’s facilitators in these program areas of the eCornell product portfolio. This role also contributes to the improvement of eCornell educational products prior to launch through consultative collaboration with eCornell’s Instructional Design and Product Management teams. The Program Facilitation Manager will also facilitate a few courses periodically not only to continue to have direct experience with this activity, but also to provide capacity, experience, and effective coaching of facilitators within the Program Facilitation Manager’s team.
The person filling this position must be credible in the subject matter, but also an effective guide with a natural predisposition for driving the effectiveness of others. This person will have a broad awareness of leadership development, operational excellence, and the online learning landscape, which will enable them to aid in the development, guidance, and maintenance of online learning programs.
What you will do:
In collaboration with the Director of Program Facilitation and appropriate others, identify, recruit, vet, and make the hiring decisions for well-qualified experts to serve course facilitators (live and asynchronous) and program SMEs, within the appropriate program areas.
Oversee facilitators in the pool associated with the program areas.
Provide input on monthly course facilitation and other monthly assignments.
Collaborate with Instructional Technologies, Instructional Design, and Product teams to support the launch of new products and ensure continuous improvement of eCornell’s learning products. This may include, but not be limited to,
Identifying subject matter experts within the program area to support the development processes.
Reviewing new courses prior to release from the course facilitator and from the student experience stand-point.
Providing consultative guidance on design and process improvements that ensure higher student success and satisfaction in eCornell products.
Facilitate 1 to 2 course sections/month for Certificates within the program areas.
Act as a clearinghouse for any issues related to relevant Certificates, reviewing and submitting maintenance tickets, as appropriate.
Onboard, train, coach, and support course facilitators within the program area.
Implement and execute appropriate performance management systems for Course Facilitators within the program area.
This will include reviewing all appropriate performance data and conducting periodic check-ins with facilitators to ensure improving quality.
This may include, after exhausting appropriate other measures, recommending the termination of employment for some facilitators who are failing to achieve minimum documented quality thresholds.
Lead and contribute to initiatives to the design, improvement, and execution of relevant operational processes, systems, and policies.
Attend, participate in, and facilitate meetings as appropriate, both in-person and virtual.
Work with the Director of Program Delivery and the other Program Facilitation Managers to formulate methodologies for building an effective community of practice among all course facilitators.
Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follow, all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, FERPA and Cornell policies and procedures.
Effectively communicate by email, telephone and virtual meetings with students, instructors, supervisors, and/or other eCornell personnel, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
Substantial applied expertise in online teaching and learning technologies and techniques.
Appropriate additional industry certifications in alignment with degree and field of expertise.
15+ years of applied leadership and management.
