The Cornell University Police department is an internationally accredited organization that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, from its headquarters in Barton Hall. This role, along with all Cornell University Police staff, accountable for supporting the organization's values of collegiality, integrity, initiative, excellence, civility, and stewardship; and supporting inclusive and sustainable practices in fulfilling everyday responsibilities. Employees are required to attend staff development training. Employees will also participate in performance evaluations including dialogues, assessments, etc.
What Will You Do
This non-union, non-uniformed, Professional Development and Training Manager reports directly to the Training Sergeant and will work in a team environment, which includes the Operations Lieutenant Training Coordinator. The team is responsible for the management and implementation of Training, Grant Writing, New Project Coordination, and Fleet Maintenance to ensure department compliance with mandated Federal, State and University required training and best practice. The team evaluates, adjusts, and prioritizes work to train department members most effectively. This position will have and be responsible to maintain extensive contacts with university employees and individuals outside the University. Examples include federal, state, local officials, University officials, visiting dignitaries, FBI, Secret Service, US Marshal’s, NYS Police, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, Ithaca Police Department, court officials, and other law enforcement agencies.
This position will allow for a flexible schedule; however, being on campus is essential.
