About the Systems Engineering Program
The Systems Engineering Program is a graduate degree program having strong ties with corporate and governmental entities. Cornell’s Systems Engineering program confers PhD, Master of Science and Master of Engineering which is uniquely available both as a traditional on-campus program and via distance learning to full-time employees who are in countries around the world. Systems Engineering recently launched a Professional Systems Engineering Certificate program meant for employees looking to continue their education as a non-matriculated student.
The Opportunity
The Systems Engineering Program is seeking a dynamic and dedicated candidate to serve in the integral and vital role of Program Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Director of Administration and working closely with program academic leadership and staff, the Program Coordinator will have the following responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
Professional Systems Engineering Certificate Program: Provide administrative oversight, including admissions, recruiting, non-matriculated student support, and certificate management/distribution.
Corporate Partner Specialty Course(s) Program: Serve as the administrative point of contact and fulfill all administrative requirements for the Corporate Partnership.
Recruiting and Marketing: Develop marketing materials, create and distribute content, and support student recruiting efforts.
Course and Classroom Coordination: Manage course schedules and classroom logistics to ensure smooth operations.
Distance Learning Support: Oversee the exam proctoring process for distance learning students to maintain the integrity of assessments.
This is a full-time (40 hours/week) endowed position that is based in Ithaca, NY. This position will allow for the flexibility to follow a hybrid work schedule after a period of acclimation/training. Work hours are flexible but will be mutually agreed upon. There may be occasional evening and weekend work hours when events are scheduled.
What We Need
We are looking for a self-motivated team member that is a good communicator, can interact well with others, is a collaborator, has excellent time management skills, and comprehends the importance of confidentiality. Additionally, you will:
Hold an Associate's Degree and have relevant Work Experience - 4 years to 6 years
Have excellent Customer Service Skills including effective communication skills.
Work independently under pressure, take initiative, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Utilize strong organizational skills, ability to follow up, track multi-step decision-making, and bring processes to completion.
Have excellent judgment in dealing with wide variety of issues, often of a sensitive, confidential, and complex nature.
Have excellent computer skills, proficient using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Be able to work commencement weekend and potentially other events that maybe off business hours.
If you possess these experiences this may be the role for you! There are a few other qualifications that we would view as incredibly helpful in this role, to include:
At least 1 year of experience in a student service-related role or educational environment.
Knowledge of Cornell’s admission process and academic advising
Ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff, students, and administrators, within and outside of the University, in a positive and professional manner

This position is located in Ithaca, New York and will allow for the flexibility to follow a hybrid work schedule that will be mutually agreed upon. The New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside New York State.
