The Associate Director of Graduate Legal Studies (GLS) Student Support provides direct advising services to current and prospective graduate students at Cornell Law School. Duties include:
Directly advising Ithaca-based LL.M. and JSD students on course enrollment, degree and bar requirements, ensuring that students are enrolled in the appropriate courses prior to their arrival.
Providing support and guidance to students in crisis, collaborating with staff and faculty at the Law School and University on complicated/sensitive situations, and working with university departments like Cornell Police and Cornell Health, among other offices, to help resolve issues.
Overseeing the planning and implementing major General LLM and JSD functions, programs, workshops, and events, including Orientation and Convocation.
Developing presentations and updating student support programmatic materials for the incoming General LLM class and JSD students.
Recruiting and supervising General LLM Orientation/IALS TAs.
Serving as Graduate Field Administrator for the Field of Law.
Assisting GLS Admissions with communications and logistics as necessary.

Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience in higher education program management and advising or equivalent.
Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with proven ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks independently and simultaneously with superior attention to detail.
Excellent judgment, discretion, flexibility, and ability to work under pressure in a variety of cultural contexts.
Must be able to create and deliver effective presentations to both small and large groups.
Ability to work independently and exercise superior decision-making skills.
Strong computer skills and database management experience with proficiency in PeopleSoft, Symplicity, Salesforce, or similar CRM software.
Strong passion for working with and mentoring international students.
Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
Proven experience connecting diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing practices to business goals.
If you possess these experiences and skills this may be the role for you! There are a few other qualifications that we would view as incredibly helpful in this role, to include:
JD or equivalent degree.
Previous experience with international students and law student advising.
Admission to the New York Bar or other US jurisdiction.
