The Associate Director of Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) serves as a key leadership member of the SFL team, contributing to the overall strategic planning and supervision of the office in partnership with the SFL Director. This position leads the Council Services Team, which includes professional staff, student leaders, and a community of stakeholders, including advisors, advocates, and HQ staff. A critical aspect of the Associate Director’s role is building and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders to ensure that the operation of the facilities and chapter advisement align with alumni and university expectations. This position also serves as the liaison to the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards (OSCCS) and works closely with the Director of SFL to develop a sustainable process that empowers student leaders while supporting accountability and student self-governance.
The Associate Director provides leadership and vision for the development and facilitation of training and educational programs that advance student development and learning within the sorority and fraternity community.
This position will direct the expansion and recognition process and will supports the recruitment and retention efforts of the Council Services Team. Additionally, the Associate Director supervises professional staff members and student staff as needed and serves as a coach to chapters across all three sorority and fraternity councils.
Campus Collaboration –
With students being the core of the work of the department, the Associate Director builds and sustains collaborative relationships with all constituencies who support Sorority and Fraternity life on campus which include but are not limited to chapter advisors, house directors, alumni, parents, local community members, national headquarters staff, and faculty.
Success Factors –
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to develop and build strong relationships with various stakeholders, including students, alumni, staff, parents, live-in advisors, community members, and campus partners, fostering an atmosphere of inclusion within sorority and fraternity life. They will occasionally represent the Director and must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. This role requires strong organizational, leadership, planning, and execution abilities to further the strategic initiatives of the office, as well as the capacity to effectively manage crisis and emergency situations.
