Summary
As the Assistant Dean of Alumni Affairs and Development, you will provide strategic vision and leadership for all alumni engagement and fundraising activities. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President, Colleges & Units and serving on the Dean’s senior leadership team, this role will work collaboratively with leadership to sets campaign and annual fundraising goals for the College, serves as a fundraising thought partner to the Dean, and is responsible for the development of overall fundraising and alumni outreach strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Strategic Vision
Provide leadership and strategic vision for alumni engagement and fundraising activities.
Collaborate with the Dean and senior leadership to set and achieve fundraising goals.
Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising and alumni outreach strategies.
Alumni and Donor Management
Serve as a major gifts officer for 10-20 prospective donors/households with the capacity to give $250,000 or more.
Facilitate relationships between alumni affairs staff and the college’s faculty and staff.
Promote the College of Human Ecology to internal and external constituencies to match interests with potential donors.
Build and steward corporate relationships and ensure collaboration with the Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations.
Travel approximately five days per month to support Human Ecology priorities, including cultivation and solicitation visits and events.
Supervision and Administration
Lead, hire, train, mentor, manage, and evaluate staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and division policies.
Develop, manage, and oversee the annual budget in consultation with college leadership.
Create and maintain a professional, positive, and inclusive working environment, identifying training and professional development needs for staff.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 7-10 years of progressively responsible fundraising and leadership experience.
A strong record of major and principal gift fundraising experience which will lead to donor investment in priority areas.
Ability to work and partner with colleagues across a complex institutional framework.
Proven track record in developing strategic and comprehensive fundraising plans, and executing against these plans to achieve goals and objectives.
Possesses outstanding organizational and communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to build collaborative relationships.
Enthusiasm and drive to align College fundraising priorities within a hybrid fundraising organization.
Ability to champion the breadth and distinction of Human Ecology’s academic disciplines and educational approach.
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships on behalf of the University and College and engage in a strong team-based environment comprised of staff, faculty, administration, alumni, and volunteers.
Prior experience leading and managing a comprehensive development operation, including effective leadership, direction, and supervision of an experienced professional staff.
Ability to establish performance standards and manage staff performance.
Proficient with desktop software, databases, and networked information systems.

This position is based in Ithaca, NY with hybrid work arrangements, which means three days on campus and the remainder can be remote from a commutable distance.
