Cornell University, a nationally ranked Ivy League institution, is looking for an Assistant Director of Student and Young Alumni Programs, to join the Alumni Affairs & Development division in Ithaca, NY.
The Student and Young Alumni Programs (SYAP) team works with current students and recent graduates to build an inclusive community where the next generation of alumni connect, contribute, and lead throughout their lifelong journey with Cornell. The team sits within the Class, Affinity, Student & Young Alumni Programs (CSYAP) team, a collaborative and creative group of engagement officers, in Cornell Alumni Affairs and Development.
The Assistant Director will be a key relationship builder to an exciting and broad range of Cornellians, including alumni 1-20 years out and support of undergraduate and graduate students. They will help alumni stay connected to Cornell and to one another by overseeing class-based programming, including advising Cornell’s 10th and 15th Reunion volunteers. They will execute other events and programs to meet this cohort where they are and provide relevant programming based on affinities and life stage. This role will contribute to planning, marketing, communications, and budget tracking as part of the larger team.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Student and Young Alumni Programs with implementing the newly-created next generation strategic plan.
Advise next generation classes and class councils.
Serve as engagement officer for Reunion volunteers.
Implement meaningful programming and leverage existing AAD/university programming to engage students and next generation alumni.
Contribute to marketing and communications efforts for CSYAP team.
Participate in professional development and stay current with best practices relevant to the role.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2 to 4 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to write for large, diverse audiences.
Ability to work with students and alumni and manage volunteer efforts.Must be able to establish and maintain intentional, lasting relationships on behalf of the university.
Competence to balance multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.Strong organizational skills with keen sense for accuracy.
Experience building consensus and prioritizing work in a complex organization made up of diverse individuals including students, alumni, and staff.
Enthusiasm toward event planning and creating new initiatives to meet Next Generation Strategic Plan objectives.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
Position requires some evening and occasional weekend work.

This position is based in Ithaca, NY with hybrid work arrangement.
