Public engagement is a foundational priority at the Brooks School of Public Policy and facilitating social change through public engagement is a driving force compelling the work of our students, faculty, and staff. In partnership with the David M. Einhorn Center for Community Engagement, the Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy is excited to deepen and extend its commitment to engagement for the public good through teaching, research, and service.
What You Will Do
The Brooks School is seeking an entrepreneurial and team-oriented professional to support and expand policy engagement and community engaged learning and related research initiatives as its Public Engagement Coordinator. As part of the academic administration team, the Public Engagement Coordinator will manage programming operations and budgets, organize and facilitate research and data analysis, and conduct assessments and evaluations of the outcomes and impact of community engaged learning and teaching for faculty, students and partners. With guidance from the Senior Associate Dean for Public Engagement, they will also participate in implementing Brooks’ strategic plan to achieve its public engagement vision and goals which includes: identifying grant funding opportunities; building and maintaining a public engagement data infrastructure (e.g., a database of partner organizations); coordinating relationships with community partners to create a public engagement partnership network that will amplify the local, national, and global impact of Brooks; assisting faculty with developing additional courses across all majors and minors for Brooks’ Community Engaged Learning (CEL) curriculum; and developing an evaluation plan for accountability using survey instruments to establish engagement metrics for data-informed decision making.
The Public Engagement Coordinator will work across portfolios to seamlessly organize coursework and other academic related activities with the academic affairs, registrar, and student services staff. They will also work closely with Brooks faculty, administrators, and advisory committee members to coordinate workshops, trainings and a speaker series on engaged teaching and research, facilitate connections between faculty, students and community/ policy partners, and systematically collect and analyze data on Brooks’ public engagement activities.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in degree in social science discipline, communications, public affairs or a related field.
2 to 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination
Effective research and data analysis skills with experience organizing research and data analysis.
Effective communicator with strong writing, public speaking, presentation, and persuasion skills.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to cultivate and maintain inclusive and equitable working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Proactive, collaborative and flexible work style with leadership and teamwork experiences working with students, faculty, academic and internal and external community partners.
Detail-oriented with effective organizational and project-management skills to coordinate multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), administrative and financial systems, and meeting/collaboration tools (Outlook, Teams, Zoom).
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in partnership development and engagement, including engaged research and learning projects
Experience in grant proposal development and management

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position that is based in Ithaca, NY. This position follows a 4:1 campus-to-home hybrid work schedule. This hybrid work arrangement is subject to change at any time.
