Senior Manager, Capture & Proposal Strategy
Location: Sidney, NY (commutable from Binghamton, Oneonta, or nearby towns); On-site only
Salary: $120,000 – $165,000
Travel: Up to 25%, as needed (ad hoc)
Overview:
Our client, a leading designer and manufacturer of high-speed interconnect solutions for mission-critical defense and aerospace systems, is seeking a strategic, hands-on leader to drive new business capture and proposal execution. This is a high-visibility, high-impact position responsible for owning the full capture lifecycle — from opportunity identification and pricing strategy to proposal development and customer engagement.

What You’ll Do:
- Lead the capture and proposal strategy function across key growth initiatives in defense and aerospace markets
- Build and execute opportunity pursuit plans from identification through proposal submission and award
- Translate complex technical concepts into compelling value propositions and customer-facing messaging
- Manage a team of 6 direct reports responsible for product marketing, proposals, and business development coordination
- Partner with engineering, sales, and program management to shape pursuit strategies and align internal resources
- Contribute directly to pricing strategy, forecasting, and long-range business planning
- Own the RFP/RFQ response process, including technical narrative, compliance, and win themes
- Regularly engage with customer stakeholders to advance pursuits and close deals
Who You Are:
- An Electrical Engineer or similarly technical professional with a business-driven mindset
- Experienced in working at small to mid-sized companies, wearing many hats and helping build capture functions
- Familiar with systems-level marketing and solutions — not just product specs, but how they solve mission-critical needs
- A builder who thrives on turning strategy into execution, and execution into revenue
- Known for your ability to write, manage, and win proposals
- Effective managing and developing a team, and collaborating cross-functionally
- Excited to help a well-established company scale even faster — this division has grown 15%+ over the past 2 years and isn’t slowing down
Preferred Background:
- 7–10+ years in B2B or defense/aerospace industries
- Direct experience with proposal development and/or program capture
- Hands-on knowledge of pricing, pipeline forecasting, and revenue growth strategies
- Experience managing technical teams and interfacing with engineering
- Located within driving distance of Sidney, NY (no remote or hybrid option)
