Role:
The Junior Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Developer supports Empower's automation initiatives by assisting in the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of RPA solutions that enhance operational efficiency across the organization. Working closely with the RPA Developer and cross-functional teams, this role contributes to the full automation lifecycle, from requirements analysis and solution design to testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
The Junior RPA Developer leverages data analysis to identify automation opportunities, documents process enhancements, and provides project coordination throughout the software development lifecycle. This role collaborates extensively with departmental stakeholders to refine business processes and promote a culture of continuous improvement. Strong communication, adaptability, and the ability to manage diverse responsibilities are essential. This position is part of a growing automation team, offering the opportunity to influence and contribute to the department's long-term direction.
The annual salary range for this position is: $83,502.02-$125,253.03
Location: Our headquarters are based in Syracuse, NY. We work in a Hybrid Model requiring a minimum of 5 days in office per month.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
40% Automation Workflow Maintenance:
- Support and monitor existing automations to ensure consistent performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production-level errors and exceptions in collaboration with business users and IT teams.
- Conduct quality assurance activities and implement change requests within a structured change control process.
- Perform routine RPA platform maintenance, including scheduling, license management, and system health checks.
- Assist with platform upgrades by validating workflow compatibility and supporting migration tasks.
35% Development:
- Assist in designing, developing, testing, deploying, optimizing, and maintaining automation workflows using UiPath, Power Automate Desktop, and other RPA platforms.
- Contribute to the creation of Power Automate flows and PowerApps applications to support business needs and improve user experience.
- Develop and maintain SharePoint-based solutions, including lists, libraries, and site pages.
- Integrate SharePoint with Power Platform tools to enable seamless data flow and automation.
- Ensure SharePoint solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with organizational standards.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and senior developers to gather requirements, propose solutions, and support successful delivery of automation tools.
15% Process Analysis & Documentation:
- Partner with RPA Developer and Business Analysts to research, document, validate, and analyze business processes for automation feasibility.
- Review RPA performance data to identify trends and opportunities for enhancement.
- Contribute to documentation including solution designs, process maps, and operational guides.
10% Project Support & Coordination:
- Support the RPA Project Manager to ensure timely, high-quality project delivery.
- Work within project planning constraints and communicate risks or issues as they arise.
- Provide input to the change control process and assist with coordination across teams.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience: 3 to 5 years of overall professional experience in software development, automation, or related technical roles, plus the following experience:
- 1+ years of hands-on Robotic Process Automation (RPA) experience using Microsoft Power Automate, UiPath, Blue Prism, or Automation Anywhere.
- 2+ years of experience developing software or automation solutions, including designing, configuring, testing, and deploying systems or automated workflows.
- 2+ years of programming experience in languages such as C#, JavaScript, VB.NET, R, Python, SQL, or similar.
- Exposure to project management principles is preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience may be accepted in place of the criteria listed above.
Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Work may involve motivating, influencing or training others.
Other Skills:
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills for evaluating business processes.
- Ability to design and develop automation workflows following SDLC, UX principles, and best practices.
- Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, and Azure DevOps preferred.
- Experience integrating automation solutions with enterprise systems and understanding system dependencies.
- Ability to deploy bots and ensure successful implementation.
- Strong testing and debugging skills with the ability to create comprehensive test plans.
- Proactive monitoring and maintenance of active bots, including Hypercare support.
- Data analysis skills and ability to build analytics dashboards for bot performance.
- Strong technical writing skills for business cases, design documentation, and user guides.
- Proficiency with process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart, etc.).
- Strong understanding of Power Automate and PowerApps.
- Ability to understand and document complex business processes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organization, self-management, and follow-through.
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
