Job Summary:
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and controlling all quality functions within the organization. This role involves developing and implementing effective quality and food safety systems, and coordinating with production, warehouse, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality issues. The Quality Assurance Manager ensures compliance with SQF, OSHA, FDA, USDA, and other relevant food industry standards.

Salary Range: $100,000-$130,000 annually with an Associate Bonus Program
Essential Functions:
- Food Safety & Quality Programs:
- Implement and maintain food safety and quality assurance programs.
- Develop and lead technical plans to address and resolve food safety issues.
- SQF Practitioner:
- Serve as the primary SQF practitioner for the organization.
- Compliance:
- Ensure facilities and products meet all company, customer, and regulatory guidelines.
- Lead and participate in regulatory, third-party, and customer audits and inspections, fostering constructive relationships with inspectors and auditors.
- Quality Control:
- Evaluate production samples to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
- Monitor incoming raw materials and finished products to meet organizational specifications and work with suppliers for issue resolution.
- Facility Oversight:
- Oversee facility inspections to maintain compliance.
- Implement and maintain standardized procedures for ongoing compliance.
- Training:
- Lead training programs on food safety and quality-related topics for all facility personnel.
- Operational Standards:
- Establish and monitor packaging, shipping, and warehousing standards.
- Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems to detect and resolve production problems.
- Operational Analysis:
- Study operations sequences, material flows, and worker functions to improve quality.
- Labeling Compliance:
- Ensure product labeling compliance and keep product specifications current.
- Training Activities:
- Plan, promote, and organize training related to food quality and safety.
- Management Communication:
- Keep senior management informed of activities requiring their attention.
Job Requirements:
- Food Manufacturing Experience:
- Preferred experience in food manufacturing.
- Quality Assurance Expertise:
- Advanced knowledge of quality assurance processes and methods, preferably in the food industry.
- SQF Practitioner Experience:
- Prior experience as an SQF Practitioner in a food manufacturing facility.
- Analytical Skills:
- Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
- Statistical Methods:
- Working knowledge of quantitative analysis and statistical methods.
- Technical Writing:
- Ability to create policy documents and audit reports.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree:
- Bachelor of Science in Food Science or a related field.
- Experience:
- 5-6 years of quality assurance and manufacturing experience in the food industry, or 5+ years in the food or dairy industry with at least 2 years in a management role.
