As the Safety and Facilites Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the integrated management of our refrigerated facility, ensuring the seamless operation of both the warehouse and prioritizing safety protocols. This role combines the responsibilities of a Facility Supervisor and a Safety Supervisor, requiring expertise in both areas to maintain an efficient, safe, and temperature-controlled environment.
Location: This position will train at our Syracuse NY corporate office and will relocate down to our new facility in Alachua FL. The training period will be around 6 months.
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8a-5p
Salary: $60,000-$85,000 with a bonus program
Essential Functions:
Facility Management:
- Supervise daily operations of the Facility Team to include facilities technicians, MHE Technicians and Image Control.
- Implement and enhance facility maintenance schedules, focusing on refrigeration systems and equipment.
- Maintain the overall operation and appearance of the facility.
- Organize, prioritize and distribute the day-to-day projects.
- Oversee the entire facility, grounds, projects and repairs.
- Help manage budgets for maintenance and capital expenditures, ensuring that all expenses are tracked and reported accurately.
- Responsible for all fixed and mobile equipment necessary for the operation of the warehouse, to include forklifts, pallet jacks, and loading docks.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
Safety Management:
- Develop and enforce safety protocols specific to a refrigerated environment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, identifying and addressing potential hazards.
- Oversee the proper handling and storage of refrigerated goods to prevent accidents.
- Lead safety training initiatives for warehouse staff, emphasizing the importance of working in a controlled temperature setting.
- Performs ongoing audits of workplace safety
- Manages Workers Compensation Cases in relation to medical and liability containment
- Administers all insurance policies including WC, Auto, and General Liability. Etc.
- Works with Auditors and Inspections to provide any information or documentation that may be needed.
Refrigeration System Oversight:
- Manage and monitor the performance of refrigeration systems to ensure consistent temperature control.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for timely repairs and preventive maintenance of refrigeration equipment.
- Implement energy-saving measures without compromising the integrity of refrigerated storage.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for maintaining and operating an Ammonia Refrigeration system over 10,000 lbs.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans tailored to the unique challenges of a refrigerated environment.
- Conduct regular drills to test the effectiveness of emergency procedures.
- Ensure the availability and functionality of emergency systems, such as temperature alarms and backup power sources.
- Communication and Training:
- Communicate updates on facility and safety matters to all relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct regular training sessions on safety and refrigeration system operation.
- Foster a culture of safety awareness, emphasizing the importance of compliance with industry regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Familiarity with refrigeration and HVAC systems, electrical and mechanical systems, and other critical infrastructure used in refrigerated warehouses.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of employees.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management software, inventory tracking systems, and other related technology tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
- Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours, as needed.
- Awareness Level Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations
- Awareness Level Knowledge of EPA Rules and regulations
Education Requirements:
- Associates degree in a related field, such as logistics, engineering, or business administration, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse or distribution center management, with at least 2 years of experience in refrigerated or frozen storage facilities.
