As our Buyer, you will provide a well-balanced inventory and product base, which is efficiently and economically purchased, managed and controlled for major food service redistribution company (G & C Foods). You will also facilitate the best possible market position for G & C Foods through the development, measurement and prioritization of vendors and products in order to contribute to the maximization of gross profit and customer satisfaction.

Every day you will...

Review Stock Staus Reports and initiate purchase orders daily to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained.
Review purchase order confirmations and inventory documents to ensure that back orders and special-order products are released for prompt delivery. Regular and timely communication with all departments regarding market conditions, supply chain disruptions and all other news to keep all interdepartmental associates well informed.
Assist in the development of goals focusing on inventory turns, aging inventory, obsolete and slow-moving inventory, gross profit and budgeted annual tonnage.
Build and foster a sound working relationship interdepartmentally.

To thrive in this role, you must have...

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related preferred, High School Diploma or equivalent required.
3-5 years of Retail or Food Service purchasing experience required.
Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook preferred.
Strong communication skills.
Business development and relationship building essential.
A strong background in the Food Service/manufacturing industry is a must.
Should be well versed in reading, predicting and understanding the market conditions.

This position has the capability of being onsite or remote. Travel is required to the office in Syracuse, NY for some training and other on-site events about once per quarter.
