Pay: $75,000-$150,000 Annually with possible Sales Bonus
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8a-5p
Job Summary:
As an Account Executive at our dynamic retail and foodservice distribution company, you will play a pivotal role in driving top-line and bottom-line sales growth and establishing strong customer relationships. Your primary responsibility will be to cultivate and expand our customer base within the foodservice and retail industry by identifying new business opportunities and further penetrating existing accounts. This position requires a proactive and results-driven individual with a deep understanding of multiple categories of food products, supply chain logistics, and business to business acumen.
Essential Functions:
- Customer Acquisition and Retention:
- Identify and close prospective customers in the foodservice/retail sector, including Foodservice Distributors, Retailers, Cash & Carry, Processors, Exporters, Traders etc. to establish regular, profitable orders.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers with all levels of decision makers within their organization, understanding their needs, and ensuring satisfaction with our products and services.
- Communicate to each assigned customer as often as needed to establish regular sales orders, complying with order minimums and frequency of G&C delivery schedule.
- Sales Strategy and Execution:
- Advanced proficiency in navigating and utilizing G&C operating system.
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Maximize profitability and penetration of product categories in every account by leveraging G&C tools and resources.
- Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities.
- Collaborate with the sales team to create compelling proposals and presentations for customers, which include but are not limited to in person representation on customer visits, and industry conferences.
- Actively look for improvements in cost savings, operational efficiencies, and customer optimizations.
- Strategically manage assigned book of business, identifying and prioritizing key customers for targeted investment of time and resources to drive customer engagement, satisfaction, and overall business success.
- Exhibit proficient decision-making skills in assessing and approving customer credits, evaluating pickup requests, and determining appropriate credit limits to uphold financial stability and foster positive customer relations.
- Product Knowledge:
- Possess a deep understanding of our product portfolio, including food items, packaging, and pricing structures.
- Proficient understanding of commodity selling and market dynamics.
- In-depth industry knowledge across segments such as retail, foodservice, and discount.
- Mastery of product verbiage to effectively communicate product features, benefits, and specifications.
- Provide customers with product information, training, and support to enhance their overall experience leveraging G&C’s online Market.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Engage with all G&C Departments to service the needs of the G&C customer, which include but are not limited to: Purchasing, Transportation & Logistics, Accounting, IT, Operations, HR.
- Direct and influence assigned member(s) of the Sales Coordinator Team to assist in compliance with the Essential Functions of an Account Executive.
- Collaborate with associates at various levels within our customer organizations and effectively coordinate with corresponding G&C departments.
- Reporting and Analysis:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for each assigned/prospective customer which include but are not limited to: Account Lists, Accounts Receivable, Inventory Discrepancies, etc.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Advanced proficiency in navigating and utilizing G&C sales reporting system and Microsoft Suite of products.
- Conduct strategic sales Return on Investment (ROI) analysis, examining customer pricing structures and category mixes based on geographic location. Evaluates the balance between gross product and operating expenses, identifies non-buying customers and categories to ensure the company's sales goals are met.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree or related experience preferred.
- 3-5 years of retail or food service experience required.
- Ability to travel occasionally for customer/office visits.
