The Building & Construction team provides assurance, testing, inspection, and certification services and building science solutions to deliver Total Quality Assurance to the built environment. The team offers the architectural, engineering and construction (A/E/C) industry with a full suite of capabilities both in the lab and on site.

MT Group – an Intertek Company is searching for a Senior Technician to join our Building & Construction team in our Farmingdale, NY office.

What are we looking for?

The Senior Technician will support the Building and Construction business by core drilling concrete, observing contractors on construction sites and performing basic testing of soil, asphalt and concrete in the field to ensure that testing, sampling, or inspection is performed consistently with project specifications.

Salary & Benefits Information

The base wage or salary range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00 per hour. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

We are looking for a Senior Technician with the following certificates:

NICET Level II or better in Concrete, Soils, or Asphalt
ACI Grade 1
ACI strength testing
ACI Aggregate testing Level1
ACI Lab Testing Level 1 & 2
Obtain NICET Level testing asphalt, concrete and soil certificate within 90 days of employment and become ACI Field Testing construction special inspector Grade 2

What you will do:

Perform a variety of tests on construction materials including asphalt, soil and concrete using materials-testing equipment
Perform field compaction testing, monitor paving operations and batch plant inspections
Read construction documents to determine project details and specifications
Neatly and accurately complete all required paperwork, including daily reports, test reports and timesheets – in a timely manner
Record and report test results after performing mathematical calculations, making graphical solutions and graphical representations
Communicate orally and in writing with engineers and staff members, agency representatives, contractors and business and property owners
Perform maintenance/cleaning of equipment and calibration and adjustments as need
Adhere to construction site safety guidelines and promotes a safe working environment

What it takes to be successful in this role:

High school diploma or GED required
Comfortable using MS Office applications (Word/Excel/Outlook)
Must be punctual, reliable with good attention to detail
Ability to climb ladders, bend, crawl, push and pull, stretch, sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Valid Driver’s License and clear driving record
