POSITION SUMMARY
The Desktop Systems Administrator (DA) is responsible and accountable for the effective lifecycle management of Le Moyne’s personal and mobile computing devices, including processes and technologies associated with acquisition, inventory and asset management, imaging and installation, configuration, maintenance, renewal and disposal. The Desktop Administrator supervises and coordinates the activities of 5-10 part-time, student employees who support the lifecycle management activities. The Desktop Administrator actively advances and promotes Le Moyne’s mission, Catholic and Jesuit identity, and commitment to both social justice and care for the whole person.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job duties specific to this position:
- Supports the resolution of technology issues. Ensures that assigned incidents and requests are responded to and resolved in accordance with established standards.
- Actively leads the lifecycle management of Le Moyne’s personal and mobile computing devices and software, including device acquisition, creation of OS image and deployment of baseline system configuration, for Windows, Apple Mac OS, Google Chromebook and Apple iOS devices.
- Coordinates the hiring and establishes the training materials for student employees, reviews and updates materials biannually.
- Ensures timely and consistent distribution of software updates and security patches in accordance with departmental standards.
- Effectively integrates third party hardware (e.g. printers, scanners, copiers) and software into Le Moyne’s personal and mobile computing environment.
- Identifies, utilizes, and maintains methods and technologies to promote efficient device and software configuration, maintenance, and renewal.
- Establishes and documents best practices for the technical support of personal computing and mobile devices.
- Acquires and analyzes relevant data to inform decision making and continuous improvement.
- Serves as a consultant regarding questions involving system(s) installation, configuration, and maintenance, makes recommendations as necessary.
- At all times, applies principles and practices that promote the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Le Moyne’s information and information and technology services.
- Collaborate and communicates effectively with other IT staff and the Le Moyne community in visual, oral, and written form on assigned projects.
- Demonstrates and promotes behaviors consistent with Le Moyne’s Mission Based Competencies.
- Actively participates in and promotes collaborative relationships including those with NYCHES, AJCU and UNYCC.
- Engages in a planned program of professional development. Continually maintains skills and knowledge relative to the position and technology industry including best practice, evolving operational requirements, and industry trends.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic preparation from a regionally accredited college.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience supporting desktop and mobile computing systems.
- Successful, prior supervisory and/or team leadership experience in a professional work environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows 10, Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows registry, Windows File and Print Services
- Working experience with Windows server operating systems
- Proficiency in GSuite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and similar productivity tools.
- Hands-on experience in configuring SCCM (or similar configuration management tool) to build, deploy and manage PC images
- Hands-on experience with Munki (or similar configuration management tool), Apple Remote Desktop, and Deploy Studio, to build, deploy and manage Mac OS images
- Experience supporting virtual desktop technologies.
- Working knowledge of networking technologies and protocols including Ethernet, TCP/IP, switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Familiar with ITIL (or related) service management practices including incident, problem, configuration, and change management

- Familiarity with the academic and administrative functions of a college is desirable.
