POSITION SUMMARY
General duties include overseeing and administering all aspects of the Community Standards program including student conduct, community engagement, and Title IX.
The Director of Community Standards, under the Dean of Students Office, oversees and administers all aspects of the Community Standards program, including student conduct, community engagement, and Title IX compliance. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Title IX and Compliance, the Director serves as the Chief Conduct Officer for Le Moyne College’s holistic and educationally-based community standards initiatives. The Director plays a pivotal role in addressing contemporary issues within the student experience, particularly in student conduct, and provides leadership and training to staff, students, and administrators to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
In this role, the Director fosters positive campus-community relations, identifies trends in student behavior, and implements individual, group, and campus-wide initiatives to address them. Additionally, the Director coordinates outreach functions related to student behavioral concerns, offering non-clinical intervention and support to at-risk students. While the Director does not provide therapeutic or counseling services, they coach students in self-care and self-advocacy and act as a resource for faculty and staff who encounter students in need of proactive intervention or follow-up.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Job duties specific to this position:
Policy Development and Implementation
- Develop, review, and update student conduct and Title IX policies in accordance with institutional values, legal requirements, and best practices.
- Revise and update the Student Code of Conduct and Handbook annually.
- Ensure clear communication and understanding of policies among students, faculty, and staff through print materials, presentations, and other means.
Student Conduct and Title IX Process Oversight
- Serve as the lead conduct officer for both on and off campus conduct and coordinates case allocation to hearing boards and a team of professional conduct officers.
- Manage the student conduct process from intake to resolution, including investigation, adjudication, and sanctioning.
- Serve as a Title IX Investigator and/or decision-maker, must be able to conduct thorough and neutral interviews with all relevant parties as well as prepare a neutrally written summary and final investigatory report.
- Train and supervise staff involved in the conduct and Title IX process, such as hearing officers, hearing board members, and residential support personnel.
- Ensure fairness, consistency, and due process in all stages of the Title IX and conduct process including advising students of their rights and responsibilities.
- Facilitate weekly meetings with Area Directors (and other staff as needed).
- Collaborate with other professionals in support of Title IX related complaint adjudication including but not limited to security, advisors, support services, and counseling.
Conflict Resolution and Mediation
- Provide mediation and conflict resolution services for students involved in interpersonal disputes or conflicts with the institution.
- Facilitate dialogue and resolution between conflicting parties, aiming to promote understanding and restore relationships.
Student Education and Outreach
- Develop and deliver educational programs and workshops on topics related to student conduct, ethical decision-making, bystander intervention, Title IX, community standards, and others as identified or assigned.
- Collaborate with other campus departments to promote a culture of integrity, respect, and responsibility among students that aligns with the college’s Jesuit values.
Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of student conduct cases, outcomes, and trends.

- Prepare reports and statistical analyses to inform institutional decision-making and compliance reporting requirements.
- Prepare annual public facing reports that outline number of incidents and trends per semester.
- Provide conduct clearances for graduate school applications, transfer applications, study abroad, campus leadership opportunities and background checks.
Crisis Response/Emergency Management and Case Management
- Provides non-clinical case management as needed for students of concern including outreach, advocacy, assistance in accessing resources and navigating the college system.
- Work closely with the Dean of Students as a member of the EASE and Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT)
- Coordinate the college's response to critical student concerns (including, but not limited to, alcohol and drug overdose, mental health distress/hospitalization, suicidal ideation) in collaboration with key campus and community stakeholders.
- Intervene directly with students regarding issues of concern: including initial meetings, appropriate referrals on and off campus, follow-up conversations, and any other efforts to provide thorough and effective interventions for students.
- Serve as a member of the Student Development On-call rotation, which may include the need to work occasional evenings and weekends. Facilitate care and concern initiatives for individual students in collaboration with the Student Development Staff, Campus Security, the Wellness Center for Health and Counseling and the Campus Life and Leadership Staff.
Collaboration and Liaison
- Collaborate with campus partners, including academic departments, athletics residence life, campus security, counseling services, governing bodies (such as faculty senate), and legal counsel, to address complex student behavior issues holistically.
- Serve as a liaison with external stakeholders, such as law enforcement agencies and community organizations, as needed.
- Partner with key stakeholders on and off-campus to provide effective outreach services to students (including but not limited to: Housing and Residence Life, Financial Aid, Wellness and Counseling Services, Disability Services, and Registrar.
- Organize regular meetings with local hospital administration and College Officials to reflect on academic year and consult on improvement of services for students
- Participate on college and divisional committees as a representative of the Dean of Students Office.
- Serve as liaison to Community Hospitals and other important external college partners - Assist the Dean of Students in conducting pre-discharge transition conversations with student’s inpatient at local hospitals.
- Serve as a college representative for Dean of Students programs, on and off campus, including student trips/programs, as business needs Serve on College’s Campus Climate team, as needed.
Student Retention Responsibilities
- The Assistant Dean of Students plays a pivotal role in enhancing student retention by fostering an inclusive and supportive campus environment. This includes:
- Collaborating with academic and student services to identify and address barriers to student success.
- Developing and implementing programs that support student engagement, resilience, and academic readiness.
- Monitoring and analyzing retention data to inform strategic initiatives.
- Promoting a culture of connectivity and belonging among students to mitigate feelings of isolation and disconnection.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s Degree in College Student Development or equivalent required.
- 4+ Years of experience in Student Conduct and/or Title IX
- Experience with Student Conduct Database Systems (preferably Maxient).
- Knowledge of Federal and State regulations (including, but not limited to Clery Act, Title IX, VAWA, and FERPA).
- The ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, writing and speaking skills, and the ability to communicate effectively within the college environment.

- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, including victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, or other types of trauma.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and manage a student caseload in a manner that ensures the prompt, effective, and equitable conclusion of such matters.
