Role DescriptionMurnane Building Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced safety professional to oversee all aspects of our corporate safety program.Specific responsibilities include:- Maintenance and development of Corporate Safety Program- Keep 3rd party safety organizations up to date (e.g., Avetta, IS Networld)- Conduct project safety inspections- Monitor on and off-site project safety activities- Implementation of accident prevention methods- Investigate and monitor accident investigations- Implement emergency response programs- Conduct training for OSHA/Insurance compliance, including aiding in certification for the proper operation of vehicles/equipment- Develop lead and silica work plans for jobsites; maintain a database of plans for future use- Office and jobsite safety trainings; work with Superintendents/Project Managers/Engineers on addressing safety items on projects- Travel will be required; the company is based in New York, and works solely in New York at this time. There is an option of 4 cities (Plattsburgh/Utica/Syracuse/Albany) for a home office, but the position is company wide. A company vehicle and gas cards will be provided.- Coordinate OSHA/Insurance/3rd party safety inspections- Report accidents to insurance carrier, track progress of current insurance cases, and maintain records- Assist project sites with Hazardous Communication (SDS sheets)- Purchase personal protective equipment for offices- Chair the Employee Safety Committee activities- Act as liaison with governmental agencies for safety and environmental matters; ensure DOT and FMSCR complianceThis position is a direct report to the ownership team.Projects include commercial and multi-family residential buildings, educational and institutional, health care, correctional institutions, industrial plants, and waste water treatment facilities.Required qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Safety, Risk Management, or a related field of study; prior experience in construction safety, including fall/lead/respiratory protection; confined spaces; lock out/tag out; hazardous materials and heavy/aerial equipment. Knowledge of relevant codes/standards (OSHA Construction Standard, ANSI).
