National Grid is hiring a Director of Digital Transformation Program Management for our NY Electric team in Upstate, NY. This hybrid position reports to its home base as required and requires some travel to our local offices.

Job Purpose

The Director leads the deployment of the most extensive technology program for the Electric business in the last 20 years, STREAMS (Strategic Reimagining Enterprise Asset Management Systems). This position will drive the strategy and delivery of a program to replace our systems for work management, asset management, geospatial information system (GIS), and graphical work design. This role will act as the face of the NY Electric organization, coordinating with peers in the New England operating business and technology organizations.

Key Accountabilities

Lead the NY Electric strategy and roadmap for STREAMS which is the replacement of work management, asset management, GIS, and graphical work design systems.
- Identify the capabilities required to achieve the STREAMS transformation outcomes, in coordination with broader electric organization (including customer and related functions).
- Developing roadmaps with prioritized investments sequenced over time.
- Define and manage a resource strategy for the delivery of STREAMS.
- Identify “no-regrets” work, including data clean-up, scope and execution strategy to enable STREAMS.
- Build a robust community across NY electric to gather insights as well as collaboratively build the strategy and roadmap, key groups include but not limited to field operations, asset management, maps & records, customer, project/program management, engineering, etc.
Own the execution to deliver STREAMS, including:
- Establish delivery model for STREAMS core functionality and “no-regrets” work, including internal & contracted resourcing model.
- Manage the successful delivery of these strategies, tracking progress, and ensuring accountability to meet roadmap requirements.
- Integrate broader NY Electric business into the execution, execution needs to be “part-of NY Electric” instead of “done-to NY Electric”.
Works closely with the IT function to develop technology strategy & execution that underpin the ambition of the business.
Ensures that there is clarity on benefits being delivered (including benefit ownership by impacted teams), tracking them from project inception through to realization.
Drive change and communication around STREAMS for NY electric to influence and inspire change across the organization.
- Develop relevant communications and engagement with senior leaders.
- Collaborate with internal & external change management & communications organizations.
Acts as a coordinating point to provide business insights from across the NY Electric organization – including internal and external benchmarking and future improvement opportunities.
- Proactively grow network with other utilities and industry partners to leverage best practices.

Qualifications

A bachelors degree, and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience as a business leader at a senior level managing a team managing change programs is required. This should include the integration of multiple business units and proven ability to create and drive a culture of high performance, continuous improvement and quality.
Significant experience of commissioning/managing large-scale technology projects and programs of work within the electric utility operations environment.
Track record of managing key stakeholders at senior levels in a large publicly listed organization during a change program to achieve tangible results and value. Demonstrates the ability to take action that inspires confidence in National Grid’s strategy and long-term business plans with both internal and external stakeholders.
Strong Leadership capabilities to lead, motivate and develop required departmental capabilities and future leaders
Excellent problem solving and strategic skills
Demonstrated ability to lead multi-functional teams and deliver project results in a comprehensive and timely fashion
Ability to communicate and work with people at all levels and across organizational boundaries, including ability to comprehend and explain highly complex information to a less technical audience
A valid driver’s license with a safe driving record is required.

Salary: $168,000 - $198,000
