Your summer will start with us on May 27, 2025, and will be filled with meaningful work experiences, professional development, networking, opportunities to get involved in your community and most importantly, have fun!

Our Substation Engineering and Design team is responsible for implementing all substation projects in our Upstate NY service area. These projects range from substation upgrades to allow for renewable generation to connect to the system, to new substations to strengthen our transmission system, and more. For the summer you will work closely with other engineers in this group to support them on various aspects of our engineering and design process. You will also have the opportunity to take weekly site visits to different substations in order to gain exposure to different types and vintages of substations and their equipment. You will also help review design prints and together with the site visits, begin to see how our engineering work can come to life and help keep our customers safely energized.
You will be in Syracuse, NY working in a Hybrid structure for the summer and must be located within a commutable distance to this identified work location.
Must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont. As a Gridtern, you should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.

Salary Range
$20.00 - $23.00 an hour (Undergraduate Student)
$29.00 an hour (Graduate Student)
Candidates will be assessed and provided offers based on major, degree type, and class year. Our Gridtern Program does not offer relocation, housing assistance, or public transportation reimbursement for Gridterns; however, we can provide a list of resources to utilize in making your arrangements.
