Salary RangeFrom $18.77 to $18.77 Hourly
Minimum Qualifications Non-competitive: Two years of full-time experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson; OR completion of an appropriate two-
year technical school course at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services, such as the New York State Civil Service Employees Association-Partnership (NYS CSEA-P) Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program*; or an equivalent combination of
experience and training gained by completion of appropriate technical courses at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services..
*Successful completion of the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Certificate Program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific classroom instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15
hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. It does not include 4,000 hours of on-the-job training, as required for the NYS CSEA-P Applied Skilled Trades Traineeship.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operate
Duties Description The duties of the position include performing a variety of tasks of the buildings and grounds maintenance trades such as: assist in the construction and maintenance of hiking trails, parking lots, boardwalks, docks, boat ramps, fishing access sites, and building; operate lawn mowers, weed trimmers, chain saws, and similar types of gas powered equipment; perform a variety of tasks utilizing power and hand tools including saws, hammers, drills, sanders, table saws, and similar tools used in the construction and maintenance trades; perform a variety of tasks of the construction trades including but not limited to carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Use of personal protection equipment, including a respirator, will be required. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in remote areas Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must be available for emergency response. Must be available to respond to after-hours emergencies. Must obtain a Class B CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction. Will be subject to the Federal Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) of 1991, which requires employee testing for drug and alcohol abuse. Must be able to lift and move objects up to 80 pounds.
This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 3/31/2025. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.
