Basic Job Functions:
The successful candidate will possess a basic knowledge of mechanical principles.
Planned projects are listed, but not limited to:
- Develop a thorough and comprehensive understanding of industrial safety.
- Work alongside Nucor Mechanics performing preventive and corrective maintenance
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the various hydraulic, pneumatic and power transmission control systems throughout the Rolling Mill & Melt shop
- Fabrication and building projects
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Participation in a course of study in Mechanical Technology or equivalent
- GPA of 3.0 or better in Mechanical Courses
- Written recommendation from advisor
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of a safety course(s)
- Practical work experience
