The Desk Assistant (DA) is a student staff members employed by the Office of Students Rights, Responsibilities and Residence Life. The DA is responsible for assisting the Residence Hall Director (RHD) and the Resident Assistant (RA) team in the effective administration of the residence halls. Desk Assistant work at the main desk inside the Residence Hall and perform tasks, listed below, assigned by the RHD for that building. Desk Assistants are expected to behave in a mature and responsible manner, using good judgement and abiding by local and institutional policies. Responsibilities include: - Provide front desk support to the Residential Life staff, students and visitors to the College.
- Signing in guests to the building and enforcing guest policies and procedures.
- Assisting students who are locked out of their rooms in the building.
- Providing information and guidance to students, staff and visitors.
- Sort and organize mail and send students emails when packages have been received.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements: - Must be a Work-Study Eligible Student in good academic standing (2.0 GPA or higher).
- Have good interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to relate to people.
- Demonstrate good clerical and communication skills.
- Have a flexible schedule to be available for office hours including finals week, opening and closing periods:
- 9:00 am - 7:00 pm daily, during peak residence, hall times (move in/out), weekends and during finals.
