Job Description: BROAD FUNCTION: The Engineering Science and Technology Department has a full-time tenure track faculty position open. Major responsibilities of this position include college-level teaching of Electrical and Electromechanical (Mechatronics) courses and laboratories in content areas such as circuit design and analysis, digital electronics, microprocessor, programmable logic controllers, robotics (FANUC and UR), industrial automation, motion and motor control, project management, and other typical electromechanical technical areas. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, curriculum development, participation on committees, and collaboration with colleagues to assess student learning outcomes. The role is part of the Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth Plus Community College (PRODiG+ CC) program; an initiative supported by SUNY system aiming to: (1) increase the number and share of excellent diverse community college faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion by hiring qualified candidates directly into tenure-track positions to support the community colleges' efforts to build an educated workforce in the state; and (2) strengthen the pipeline for retention and support of these candidate. Candidates hired into a PRODiG+ CC role will receive additional faculty mentorship and professional development funds to support their professional growth. Requirements: REQUIREMENTS: Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor: - Be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship;
- Have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 3 years of full-time employment in Engineering or a closely allied field experience, or a Master's degree, or relevant terminal degree from an accredited institution completed prior to start date.
- Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/ unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations.
- Industry-recognized professional license or certification.
- Minimum of three years of full-time employment in Engineering or closely allied field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Current SUNY students, alumni, and/or Fellows.
- From a low-income background (e.g., Pell-eligible as undergraduates), were first-generation college students (students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree), have overcome adversity, are AmeriCorps alumni, or are veterans.
