Job Description: BROAD FUNCTION The Residence Hall Director is responsible for the daily administration of one of four residence halls located on the campus of Onondaga Community College. This position includes supervisory, operational, programmatic, and student conduct responsibilities. RHDs are instrumental to the success of fostering a safe and inclusive living environment that supports both the educational and co-curricular experience at the College. This is a full-time, 12-month, live-in position. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES - Develop and maintain residence hall communities that promote a positive living/learning environment in accordance with the mission, vision and goals of the College.
- Directly supervise a staff consisting of four to six Resident Assistants (RAs). This includes holding weekly staff meetings and individual meetings, completing evaluations and fostering individual growth.
- Develop and promote co-curricular activities to better link the student educational experience with other interests which include campus/community involvement.
- Assist with recruitment, selection, and training of the entire student staff.
- Build relationships with residents by being accessible and visible throughout the residence hall. RHD offices are located within the halls and RHDs are expected to work a portion of their hours in the evening.
- Responsible for communicating and maintaining proper rules of conduct within the residence halls.
- Encourage and support a truly multicultural environment within the residence halls through community building and programmatic efforts.
- Support the development of the Living Learning Communities in your residence hall, collaborate with Faculty Partners to support the planned programming.
- Serve as a liaison with facilities and maintenance personnel to maintain the physical condition of the residence halls.
- Implement programming to assist with the academic, emotional, personal, and social development of the residential students, as well as the greater college community. This includes RHDs planning and implementing programs, advising RAs in their programming efforts, and maintaining accurate programming records.
- Serve in an on-call rotation, provide immediate response as appropriate and/or promptly refer residents to appropriate campus resources in the areas of conflict resolution, academic issues, personal, and/or disciplinary problems.
- Meet with residents who are no longer registered for a full-time course load and offer immediate support by referring students to the necessary resources on campus.
- Serve on a rotating basis as the RHD on duty who is responsible for responding to any incident or emergency within any of the residence halls.
- Ensure the proper opening and closing of the residence halls at specified breaks and at the start and end of each semester.
- Participate in student onboarding, enrollment, and retention efforts across the college.
- Oversee the development of the Residence Life programming plan and assist staff by tracking resources, attendance, budget and feedback.
- Support the planning and implementation of major campus-wide and inter-hall programs and activities through active participation.
- Represent Residence Life on various committees and/or task forces.
- Supervise the documentation of and follow through on the condition of student rooms using room condition reports, mid-year check-outs, and mid-year inspection forms.
- Maintain accurate records of all residence hall keys and facilitate key distribution.
- Perform other duties as assigned such as assigned.
Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency
- Previous higher education administration, student affairs, residence life (campus affiliated housing), or community housing management experience is required.
- Valid driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Master's Degree from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency in college-student personnel, counseling, higher education or related field and/or previous hall director experience is preferred.
- Bilingual. English and Spanish preferred, other languages welcomed.

Additional Information: - Position is a live-in position.
- Salary range is: $44,000-50,000, commensurate with credentials and relevant experience.
