Job Description: Biology seeks enthusiastic and engaging adjunct instructors for day, evening, and/or weekend teaching assignments. Need varies by semester (continuous recruitment) but is often for instructors qualified to teach Anatomy & Physiology (BIO-171 and/or BIO-172, for allied health and pre-allied health majors); Introductory/ non-majors biology courses (BIO-105, BIO-106, BIO-121); or General Biology (BIO-151/152, for majors). Occasionally, a need for a Microbiology (BIO-205) or Ecology (BIO-131) may arise. Biology instructors at OCC often teach both the lecture and laboratory components of a course and are expected to develop their own course materials (e.g. lecture materials, assignments, quizzes, and exams), with the guidance of senior faculty, following college approved course outlines for learning outcomes, grading scales, etc.. Typically, a teaching assignment involves a lecture section that meets twice a week, plus one or two associated lab sections that meet once a week (comprised of the same students from lecture). Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Master's degree (or higher) in a relevant biological discipline from an accredited college or university or foreign equivalency, or a professional degree in an appropriate medical profession (e.g. MD, DO, DVM). A Master's in education is not considered equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Teaching experience, particularly at the community college or introductory college level, especially as the sole or lead instructor.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: - Relevant biological content-area expertise as evidenced by coursework at the undergraduate, graduate, and/or clinical professional school level, and/or by successful experience teaching similar college-level Biology classes at similar institutions.
- Ability to clearly and engagingly present information, lead class activities, and facilitate student learning.

Additional Information: Adjunct rate of pay for the 24/25 academic year is $1,440/credit hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment.
