Job Description: The Learning & Testing Center Coordinator oversees the day-to-day operations of the Learning Center and Testing Services at Onondaga Community College. This role includes managing tutoring services, coordinating academic testing logistics, and recruiting tutors and academic support personnel. The coordinator plays a key role in ensuring high-quality support for students across disciplines and collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and departments across the college. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Tutoring & Learning Center Responsibilities: - Coordinate with HR to recruit, hire, train, and supervise approximately 50-60 peer and professional tutors/proctors/ELI Instructors.
- Build and maintain tutor schedules using Lazer Success.
- Monitor tutor performance, manage absences, and reassign coverage when needed.
- Respond to Lazer Success referrals and faculty academic flags.
- Develop and coordinate workshops, group study sessions, and outreach events.
- Collect and analyze center usage data and prepare semester reports.
Testing Services Responsibilities: - Oversee the scheduling and administration of academic exams, including make-up, placement, and accommodated testing.
- Coordinate test security protocols and ensure ADA compliance.
- Maintain and troubleshoot testing software and hardware platforms.
- Serve as liaison to Disability Services and academic departments for test-related concerns.
- Track testing usage, accommodations, and administrative challenges
Recruitment & Outreach: - Promote Learning Center and Testing Services through marketing materials, faculty visits, and class announcements.
- Develop outreach materials and maintain updated tutoring information across digital platforms.
Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college, university, or foreign equivalency.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar productivity tools.
- Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and respond to shifting priorities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience working in a learning center, tutoring program, academic support office, or educational setting (can include internships, student employment, or volunteer roles).
- Familiarity with educational technology platforms or scheduling tools (e.g., Lazer Success/Starfish Analytics, LMS systems).
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including first-generation, underrepresented, and English as a new language students.
- Understanding of FERPA and/or ADA compliance in educational settings.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, solve problems, and work independently or as part of a team.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Knowledge of academic support services and strategies for student success.
- Understanding of confidentiality standards and professional conduct in educational settings.
- Skill in communicating effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
- Skill in using spreadsheets, databases, or reporting tools for data tracking.
- Ability to build and maintain organized schedules and coordinate logistics.
- Ability to troubleshoot common technology issues and learn new systems quickly.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Ability to engage and support students from a wide range of backgrounds in a welcoming and respectful manner.
Additional Information: - Salary range is: $44,000-49,280, commensurate with credentials and relevant experience.
