Job Description: EOP is designed to provide academic support and personal services for economically and academically disadvantaged students who possess the desire and potential to earn a college degree. The 2025 Summer Institute is scheduled for student arrival on July 8th and move-out on August 13th. Staff will move in on July 1st training begins the afternoon of July 1st, 4th of July will be off, and trainings will end on the 7th. The Summer Institute is a tuition-free, six-week program that provides an exciting and challenging opportunity for students entering the Fall semester. This program is designed to help students prepare academically for the rigors of higher education coursework, sharpen skills, build familiarity with campus resources/processes, and experience a college living environment. It is also designed to foster a sense of community and belonging while assisting students in developing the skills and habits necessary for success. DATES OF FULL-TIME OBLIGATION - July 1-3: Training
- July 7-August 13: Student Residential Program
- Staff Move-In: July 1, 2025
- Student Move-In: July 7, 2025
- Student Move-Out: August 13, 2025
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibility is to support students in preparing for the rigors of college learning and living. Duties include, but are not limited to: - Serve as a Peer Mentor during non-classroom hours.
- Assist with the logistical planning of the Summer Institute community activities.
- Co-plan and implement a six-week Personal & Community Development Program.
- Guide students in problem-solving skills, personal development, and the transition to college life.
- Prepare and promptly submit evaluations, and other required documentation to the Resident Director who will submit any incident reports.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Resident Director or EOP Staff.
Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Patient, dependable, flexible, and able to work as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work during the six-week Summer Institute (July 1st - August 13th)
- Must attend mandatory training from July 1st to July 3rd
- Experience in mentoring, tutoring, or similar roles preferred
