Job Description: Currently seeking two Direct Support Professional (DSP) Academic Success Coaches to support DSPs currently working in the field as they pursue a series of credit-bearing micro credentials and work toward national certification from the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP). Academic Success Coaches work in partnership with faculty to advise and mentor students through completion of coursework as well as required written assignments for the NADSP certification and navigation through the NADSP e-badge learning management system. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES The DSP Academic Success Coach will: - Serve as an academic resource for DSP micro credential students' badge completion for NADSP national licensure requirements.
- As requested by Student Success Specialist and program faculty, assist DSP micro credential student in course registration required in each of the micro-credentials. As students near completion of the micro-credentials, provide advising as requested for students to pursue the Human Services AS degree and refer them to Financial Aid as needed.
- Identify at-risk students and develop interventions for success. This will include working closely with other campus personnel (e.g. navigators, tutors, counselors) and faculty, and meeting regularly with students.
- As needed, work with local agencies to recruit DSPs into the program. This may include attending and presenting at local agencies and speaking with potential students in groups and individually, as well as collaborating with the college's Admissions team.
- Process Microcredential Interest/Request Forms submitted by prospective and/or current DSP Microcredential students.
- Maintain up-to-date electronic reports for all activities.
- Participate in periodic training and staff meetings.
- Perform related work as required.
Note: This position is grant-funded. The grant runs through 12/31/2027. Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Associate's degree from a college, university or foreign equivalency or higher in a related field of study.
- Capable of tutoring online using a variety of software applications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Have prior experience working with students one-on-one or in small groups.
