Job Description: This is a Federal Work Study (FWS) position The Native/Indigenous Admissions Specialist will support the Office of Admissions in promoting Onondaga Community College to prospective Native/Indigenous students and families. The role is ideal for a student who is passionate about higher education, enjoys engaging with people, and wants hands-on experience and recruitment processes. Responsibilities May Include: · Assist in planning campus tours, open houses, Center for Native/Indigenous Students Tours, OCC Haudenosaunee Arts Fest and other recruitment events. · Serve as a tour guide and along with Native/Indigenous Admissions Coordinator provide campus tours to prospective Native/Indigenous Students and families. · Assist in responding to prospective student inquiries via email, phone and in person. · Support data entry filing, and other administrative tasks related to prospective student records. · Help prepare admission materials such as packets, brochures and mailings. · Contribute to social media and digital outreach methods. · Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned. Requirements: - Must have a valid FAFSA on file
- Must have a financial need, as demonstrated by the FAFSA
- Must be matriculated into a program
- Attending at least half-time (6 credit hours)
- Maintain satisfactory progress (SAP) towards the completion of their program
- Current student in good standing at OCC
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable speaking to groups
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and basic data entry
- Passion for promoting higher education and student success
- Knowledge of Haudenosaunee Culture and Traditions
- Knowledge of Haudenosaunee languages are a plus.
