Parsons is adding several Water Resources/Drainage Engineering professionals to our team in Centreville, Virginia office to support transportation projects! Our Engineers support both conventional and design-build projects, for Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland, as well as support other states. In this position, you will perform engineering and design functions requiring the application of basic principles and fundamental theories of fluid mechanics, hydrology, and hydraulics engineering studied under a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering program or a related field. In addition, you may assist in-field inspections and the preparation of inspection reports. This role can be based in various Parsons offices around the DC area.
Typical responsibilities include:
Drainage system design for transportation and related infrastructure
Design/analysis of storm drain and open channel systems
Hydrology and Hydraulics Analysis
Stormwater Management and Green Infrastructure Design
Bridge Scour Analysis
Erosion and Sediment Control design and permitting
River and watershed modeling
The ideal candidate should have an interest in participating in multi-disciplinary Civil Engineering-Transportation drainage projects. We expect you to have an understanding of current environmental issues and sustainability relating to development projects, and a shared vision for collaboration with the project team. You will work under the direction of Lead Engineers and/or project managers on water resources and drainage design projects.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field; Graduate degree a plus
3+ years’ experience with drainage design, water resources engineering and related functions as listed above
Proficiency with MicroStation required
Knowledge and understanding of Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) requirements are preferred
Active involvement in professional organizations
EIT required for entry-level and/or Professional Engineering Certification for more experienced engineers (or in process of obtaining) is required.
Experience in typical software used in water resources engineering design which might include some or all of the following:
MicroStation
GEOPAK, INROADS, and/or OpenRoads
Stormcad
PondPack
Flowmaster
Culvertmaster and/or HY-8
HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS
WIN TR-55 and WIN TR-20
ArcMAP/GIS a plus
