Job Description:
Parsons is looking for a talented Senior Roads & Traffic Engineer to join our team! In this role you will support the planning, design coordination, and technical review of road and traffic infrastructure for a major development program in Qatar. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure road networks, transport corridors, and traffic systems are designed and delivered in accordance with project objectives, regulatory requirements, and international engineering standards.
As Senior Roads & Traffic Engineer will play an important role in reviewing transportation infrastructure designs, coordinating with consultants and government agencies, and supporting the delivery of integrated transport solutions across complex urban development environments.
What You'll Be Doing:
Provide technical review and coordination of road and traffic engineering designs across large-scale infrastructure and urban development packages.
Support the planning and development of road networks, transport corridors, and highway infrastructure within complex mixed-use or master planned developments.
Review design submissions including road geometry layouts, junction designs, pavement structures, and drainage systems to ensure compliance with project standards and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with urban planners, infrastructure engineers, and transportation consultants to ensure integration between road infrastructure, utilities, and adjacent development zones.
Support design coordination activities across multidisciplinary teams including civil infrastructure, utilities, and structural elements associated with road networks.
Review engineering drawings, design reports, and technical specifications to ensure alignment with applicable codes and project requirements.
Assist with resolving technical design issues and responding to design review comments, NCRs, and approval process requirements.
Coordinate with regulatory authorities and government agencies to support approvals related to road infrastructure and traffic systems.
Support infrastructure phasing strategies, construction sequencing, and traffic management planning to ensure safe and efficient implementation of road works.
Prepare technical review comments, engineering assessments, and recommendation memos related to road design submissions and project coordination issues.
Participate in coordination meetings with consultants, planners, and government stakeholders to ensure project alignment and efficient decision making.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Highway/Traffic Engineering from an accredited university is mandatory.
Master’s degree in Transportation Infrastructure, Highway Engineering, or Construction Management is preferred.
Minimum 15 years of professional experience in road and highway design or civil infrastructure engineering.
At least seven years of experience working in a client-representative role or consultant coordination capacity on major infrastructure projects.
Demonstrated experience delivering projects involving GCC infrastructure, transportation corridors, and master planned developments.
Proven experience coordinating with master planners, transportation consultants, and government agencies on complex development programs.
Strong experience working with regulatory authorities in Qatar including Ashghal, HMD, QCS, and related approval processes.
Experience supporting large-scale urban developments or master planned communities involving integrated transport infrastructure.
Strong technical knowledge of road geometry design, pavement engineering, junction design, and highway drainage principles.
Proficiency with civil engineering design tools and platforms including AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and MX Road.
Experience managing multidisciplinary coordination across road infrastructure, utilities, and structural interfaces.
Strong ability to review and interpret complex engineering drawings, technical reports, and specifications.
Experience preparing technical recommendations, design review comments, and responses to authority approvals.
Knowledge of infrastructure phasing strategies, construction sequencing, and road safety audit practices.
Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills with the ability to work effectively with consultants, authorities, and project teams.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Professional certification as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) or equivalent is highly desirable.
Ashghal or MOT accreditation or approvals experience is desirable
