HR Manager
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented HR Manager to join our dynamic team at Pinckney Hugo Group. In this role, you will be responsible for handling the core HR administrative functions crucial to our advertising agency’s operations. This includes managing recruitment, compensation, performance appraisals, and employee needs. You will perform day-to-day HR functions and foster a positive work environment, support career development, and ensure compliance across our multi-state operations.
(This role is based out of our Syracuse, NY office)
Essential Functions:
People Operations & Compliance:
- Execute and manage the onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Maintain and update our HRIS (Rippling), handling employee changes and data integrity.
- Act as a liaison with the payroll team to address payroll-related queries and discrepancies.
- Maintain and regularly update the PHG Employee Handbook to reflect current policies and legal requirements.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states.
- Assist with ad hoc HR data reporting and analytics as required.
- Partner with management to communicate and enforce HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with software tools and vendors to optimize HR processes and systems.
Recruiting:
- Support PHG in attracting and retaining top talent by overseeing the recruiting function.
- Supervise and guide the Talent & Culture Specialist, our primary recruiting contact.
- Co-facilitate new hire onboarding sessions as needed to ensure a seamless integration.
Total Rewards:
- Manage the employee benefits program, providing day-to-day support and resolving benefits-related issues.
- Work directly with benefits broker
- Collaborate with the finance team to support and refine compensation practices and structures.
Training & Development:
- Identify and assess employee training needs to enhance skills and performance.
- Organize training and development programs as needed.
- Advise on and manage development opportunities to support career growth for staff.
- Oversee the performance review process, ensuring it is conducted effectively and constructively.
- Support the leadership team in developing clear career paths and growth opportunities for employees.
Employee Engagement:
- Foster a positive work environment and uphold our Core Values.
- Serve as a resource for employees, addressing questions and concerns related to their employment journey.
- Liaise with employee activity committees to enhance engagement and morale.
- Manage and analyze Employee Engagement Survey(s) to gauge satisfaction and identify areas for improvement.
- Partner with the PHG leadership team to align HR strategies with organizational needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of progressively building experience in HR management, including: recruiting, compliance, performance management, benefits administration, and employee relations.
- Ability to handle a variety of situations with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state employment laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems (ideally Rippling) and familiarity with ATS and HR tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to manage outsourced partners and vendors.
- HR certification is desired, but not required.

Total Compensation Range: $80k-$100k (dependent on experience)
