Shift: 1st Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00 AM -3:30 PM
Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $26.00 - $33.00 per hour. This is the reasonable estimate for this job based on applicable circumstances at the time of posting. Pay could be more or less than the posted range as permitted by law, and commensurate with the applicant’s experience, qualifications, and geographical location.
Position Summary:
The Tool Maker will be responsible for creating and making tooling based upon applicable drawings, sketches or verbal instructions, through the use of a wide variety of machinery and necessary hand tools.
Essential Functions:
· Utilizes appropriate machining and tooling devices to make machined parts based upon drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions, to the required specifications.
· Modifies existing tooling as needed based upon updated tool specifications.
· Handle requests for manufacture of duplicate machine parts or tool holders and repair or modification of existing items.
· Inspects completed tools for contour conformity, smoothness, and any defects. Makes necessary adjust as required.
· Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion, abiding by company rules and safety regulations.
· Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education / Licensure / Experience:
· High School diploma or GED required; trade school certification preferred.
· 3-5+ years of prior experience as a tool maker required
· CNC programming, set up and machining experience is required
· Strong knowledge and use of lathes and milling machines.
· Ability to set-up machines to produce parts to the appropriate specifications.
· Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
· General computer skills
· Ability to interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
· Basic mathematical knowledge to perform addition and subtraction.
· Ability to work with close tolerances.
· Strong working knowledge of cutting tools.
· Ability to utilize hand tools and have strong mechanical abilities.
· Proficiency in blueprint reading.
· Ability to use measuring equipment including but not limited to micrometers, depth micrometers, dial indicators, machinist scales, and optical comparators.
· Must demonstrate safe working habits, the ability to follow directions and work with minimal supervision.
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment in a culturally diverse workplace.
Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in a loud manufacturing environment subject to fluctuations in temperature with regular exposure to grease, oil, and heavy machinery will be expected in the position.
Physical Demands:
Physical requirements needed to perform the job are eye-hand coordination and bi-manual dexterity sufficient to work with small parts and operate machinery, a normal range of hearing and eyesight to focus on task, the ability to stand for long periods of time, the ability to perform work while bending and/or crouching, and the ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
