As an apprentice, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of our continuous manufacturing process. You will develop skills and knowledge to ensure that manufactured Fibre optic cables and micro ducts are of the highest possible quality.
By joining our business as an apprentice, you will gain an apprenticeship in Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering. As part of the apprenticeship scheme in partnership with Colchester Institute on day release, you will gain an EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge), Technical Support Technician pathway (Development Competence), Pathway D: Operational Technical support. The role will report to the Plant Manager and supported by the Senior Quality Engineer. We are based on Parham Airfield, close to Framlingham, as such your own transport is a necessity.
You will make an impact in the following way:
- Perform inspections on both end of line products and incoming goods
- Maintain and prepare production documentation including standard operating procedures
- Support other departments with cross-functional problem-solving activities
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action plan activities (8D investigations)
- Implement, develop, and support continuous improvement projects
We train our employees on-the-job to learn the continuous process of cable extrusion. Once trained, you will become a valuable quality technician capable of supporting all aspects of quality and continuous improvement processes.
What you will bring:
- An enthusiasm, and desire to learn.
- Career aspirations to grow within Belden.
- You must have a minimum of English, Math's and Science GCSE grades 9-4 (A-C) or equivalent or work towards achieving these as part of the apprenticeship.
Successful completion of the apprenticeship is just the starting point of your career with Belden. Suitable candidates would be supported in studying at HNC, Foundation Degree and Degree level to further support your career aspirations.
