This position will primarily provide focused activities within our sterile products laboratory. As such, they will collaborate with a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to oversee sterile product medication therapies. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: medication preparation and validation (including standard and hazardous/chemotherapy preparations), utilization of IV lab technologies, upkeep with specific sterile products training and validation, and correspondence with pharmacy/hospital staff about patient care needs related to sterile product compounding. The position will also have some pharmacy staffing requirements outside the sterile products laboratory.
In totality, this pharmacist interprets medication orders and prescriptions to ensure that they are complete, safe, rational, and compatible with institutional policy. Prepares compounds and dispenses medications for inpatient and ambulatory care use. This includes the preparation of injectable sterile products. Dispenses Pharmacy related items. Performs duties in all areas of Pharmacy to include inpatient, ambulatory care and satellites. Provides information to health care practitioners to promote the rational use of medications. Provides drug monitoring service. Maintains Pharmacy records by law and institutional policy. Interprets policy. Interprets policy and procedures for hospital staff. Participates in teaching programs for hospital staff. Participates in Pharmacy Departments Quality Assurance Programs.
B.S. in Pharmacy or Pharm.D., NYS license and registration - or eligible - required; completion of PGY1 Pharmacy residency or equivalent experience required.
Dedicated sterile products pharmacy experience preferred
Rotating shifts: Days, Evenings, Weekends & Holidays
