The Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practice Provider will serve in a full-time inpatient role with 24 x7 coverage in the ICU with operating room support as needed.
Responsibilities will include:
Assessment and management of post-op cardiac surgery patients in the ICU and on the stepdown unit
Ordering and interpreting appropriate labs, tests, exams and procedures for diagnostic purposes
Daily rounds with multidisciplinary team
Complete appropriate daily progress notes as well as new patient admissions and consultations
Pulling chest tubes, pacing wires, IABPs, lines; Placement of central and arterial lines
Rotation to the operating room as a first or second assistant
Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
NYS Licensed/Registered NP or PA.
Current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice.
NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required. Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.
CPR-BLS and ACLS Certification required at the time of appointment.
Cardiac surgery experience as an RN or APP.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must successfully pass pre-employment and credentialing clearances.
Varies: Days, Nights, Rotating Weekends, Rotating Holidays
