Oversee all surgical scheduling activities for the department and provides back up support and coverage to the Administrative Specialist and Business Manager. Functions as department liaison to communicate updates from the OR Business office to department staff pertaining to surgery scheduling. Attend meetings along with business manager conducted by OR Business Office where surgical scheduling and related policies will be discussed. Monitor iQue system for open and released OR block time daily. Notify all staff, surgeons, and managers when time will need to be released per OR guidelines. Will check the Surgery Scheduling Snapboard and Depot in Epic for the department before releasing time. Acts as a training consultant to staff for ongoing support for surgery scheduling activities. Responsible for coordinating multiple schedules for the surgeons which include clinic appointments, surgery schedule, administrative and academic schedules. Assists in obtaining all pre-surgical appointments, test results and medical clearances. Obtains insurance authorizations. Handles a variety of administrative and clinic matters involving contact with various staff, patients, medical staff, government agencies, insurance carriers and the public. Has knowledge of the insurance authorization process. Performs medical receptionist duties such as answering phones, handling correspondence, and completing forms as needed.
An associates degree and two years of related experiance or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Associates degree in a health care related field.
