This role will be held out of our Front Office 5719 Widewaters Parkway Syracuse location.
Job Responsibilities:
- Pleasantly checks patients in/ out and schedules patient’s appointments within SOS as needed. Work includes accurately entering and updating demographic and insurance information in a timely manner, scan insurance cards, printing provider paperwork, take payments, work daily reports, provides appropriate front desk forms to patients to fill out, and other secretarial type duties.
- Position requires excellent communication and customer service skills. Medical terminology and insurance background is preferred plus strong computer skills and ability to type well.
- Utilizes electronic health record to properly conduct registrations, appointment scheduling, referrals, etc. Takes patients task messages according to protocol ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
- Ability to gain knowledge of Phreesia and Allscripts (Veradigm) electronic health record; understanding how they are utilized when dealing with registrations, check in, appointment scheduling, referrals, etc. Prior experience is a plus.
- Has flexibility with regards to going to different office locations to cover other check-in areas within SOS as needed.
- Ability to understand and stay current on various insurance policies, properly inform patients of our participation status and referral requirements. Applies insurance information provided by our billing department/management team. Follows protocol for use of Waiver form and educating others on our patient portal.
- Has ability to stay organized and not be overwhelmed within a fast pace setting.
- Responds to any scheduling or rescheduling needs of our Physicians as notified by supervisor or provider. Reschedules patients correctly & timely in system and will alert patients checking in if provider running late or need to reschedule.
- Ensures the insurance information attached to the appointment is updated and informs patient of necessary requirements for their appointment such as (imaging, consents, referral, insurance cards, records, etc.).
