| Job Description | The Matin J. Whitman School of Management is seeking a part-time instructor who can teach a course in Strategic Management and the Natural Environment. Designed as part of the Certificate of Advanced Study in Sustainable Enterprise, this course is open to all graduate students at Syracuse University, with primary enrollment coming from the residential and online MBA programs, Maxwell, graduate Engineering, and SUNY ESF. This course will explore sustainability from the perspective of managers of a business enterprise and focus on links between environmental issues and business strategies. Key questions to be addressed include: Can production efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability be increased through the introduction of new technologies and management systems that are sensitive to environmental considerations? What are the drivers of environmental strategy for businesses competing in product markets? How may the technical, financial, and political aspects of environmental strategy be evaluated? How can environmental strategies be incorporated into how a business builds and sustains a competitive advantage? What are the potential liabilities of not implementing sustainability-related strategies? |
| Qualifications | Master’s or Doctoral degree preferred. |
| Job Specific Qualifications | Detailed knowledge of sustainability practices. Significant teaching and/or professional experience in the field. |
| Responsibilities | Meet all designated class periods. Develop course syllabus and assignments based on prior course implementation with input from the CASSE Program Director. Grade any assignments based on instructions/rubrics and provide feedback to students in a timely manner. Maintain regularly scheduled office hours. Submit final grades according to University regulations. |
