Job Description	Spring 2025 – BIO 224 M009/M010 Integrative Biology Lab – 2 Credits Course description: Students will design and perform their own experiments with the culmination of these experiments resulting in a presentation or short scientific paper. The course is set up as two modules lasting 8 and 6 weeks, respectively. Module 1 will cover key research skills in experimental design, analysis, and basic laboratory skills. Other topics covered in Module 1 include responsible conduct of research, inclusion, equity, and diversity in science, reading and analyzing scientific papers, and an introduction to model organisms commonly used in biological research. In Module 2, students will apply what they have earned in Module 1 through design and performance of their own experiments using a live organism. They will need to use the analytical techniques learned in previous weeks to organize and present their data. The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined based on their per-credit-rate-history within the hiring department.

Job Specific Qualifications	M.S. degree or higher in Biology or related field, with at least one semester of teaching experience as primary instructor for a course
Responsibilities	Part-time Instructor duties will include the following: Developing and/or updating a class syllabus Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date Preparing lectures, projects or other student assignments Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours of two hours per week Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the class Meeting all designated class periods. If you are unable to meet with your class due to illness or emergency, you should exercise your best effort to reschedule the class or to obtain a substitute. You must also notify the department chair or their designated contact of your absence and of your plan to cover the class. Working with the academic unit to maintain student learning outcomes Submitting completed final grades according to University regulations Grading student assignments and exams in a timely manner Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations Completing all other course-related duties as outlined by your department’s policies for part-time instructors
