Pay Range $67,000 - $69,400

Job Description
Barnes Center at The Arch is Syracuse University’s integrated health and wellness center which incorporates Counseling, Health, Health Promotion and Recreation. The Health Communication Project Manager is a member of the Health Promotion team, reporting directly to the Director. The Health Communication Project Manager is a full-time position that works closely with other Barnes Center at The Arch departments and Divisional Student Experience Communications team to produce clear, intentional, and effective marketing of programs and services, health messaging, and public health campaigns for the student population.

The Health Communication Project Manager is responsible for coordinating internal communication among Barnes Center at The Arch staff, promoting consistent outreach messaging and organization-wide initiative awareness. In partnership with Student Experience Division Communications, this position will be responsible for leading project management across high volume and fast-paced deadlines, including developing and disseminating health communication materials in a variety of print and digital formats (social media, video, training materials, e-newsletters, blogs, website content, digital signage and more). The Health Communication Project Manager will also supervise a Graduate Student Employee.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in health communication, health promotion, health education, communications, or a related field required
  • Master’s degree in health communication, public health, communications, public administration, higher education administration, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years professional experience in the field of health communication, public health, or communications
  • Experience developing and disseminating health messaging and communication campaigns
  • Knowledge of best practices for creating accessible media in various formats (digital, print, web)
  • Knowledge of best practices for public health communication
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Knowledge of project management best practices
Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience in creating collaborative relationships
  • Understanding of principles of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility, and application of these principles within the context of health promotion and public health
  • Understanding of health communication theories
  • Excellent presentation/oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Proficient computer skills including but not limited to: Adobe Express, Microsoft Word, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, database management
Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement Barnes Center at The Arch communication strategy, in partnership with Student Experience Division Communications, including development and evaluation of messaging strategies focused on student health and wellness
  • Supervise a graduate student employee
  • Create social media content; audit and maintain web content; produce newsletter and blog content; coordinate with external partners regarding health information
  • Serve as a liaison with the Student Experience Communications team
  • Create consistent outreach messaging and training materials for Barnes Center at The Arch staff to utilize when attending resource fairs and presentations
  • Serve on Barnes Center and Student Experience committees
