Pay Range $112,500 - $132,500
Pay Determination
Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months’ salary unless otherwise specified.

Job Description
The Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor of Accounting beginning Fall 2027 (appointment starts in August, 2027). This is a non-tenure-track teaching position with a renewable three-year term. This position is a strategic addition to the Lubin School of Accounting, designed to strengthen the School’s ability to meet student demand across a range of high-impact accounting courses, including financial and managerial accounting, cost, accounting information systems, analytics, and technology. The successful candidate will help ensure continuity in required courses, support the School’s CPA-readiness mission as New York implements its new 120-hour licensure pathway, and contribute new ideas and expertise in emerging areas, including the integration of analytics and AI tools into accounting instruction, that enhance student career preparation. A passion for teaching and student success is essential.

This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by a union, SEIU Local 200 United.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a closely related field.
  • Evidence of strong teaching effectiveness in accounting, information systems, or other relevant areas.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Accounting, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline.
  • Professional certification (CPA, CMA, CISA, or equivalent); CPA especially valued.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate technology, analytics, and AI tools into accounting instruction.
  • Experience teaching accounting information systems, accounting analytics, data visualization, or emerging technologies.
  • Relevant professional or public accounting experience linking technology and accounting practice.
Responsibilities
  • Teach a seven-course annual load across undergraduate and graduate levels (typically three in one semester and four in the other).
  • Deliver engaging instruction in Accounting Information Systems (ACC 425/625) and Information Technology for Business (MIS 325/625), and in core accounting courses such as financial, managerial, or cost accounting.
  • Develop and deliver CPA-relevant content and support the department’s CPA-review programming (e.g., ACC 600), reinforcing student CPA readiness.
  • Integrate analytics, data visualization, and emerging technologies, including AI tools, into accounting instruction and curriculum.
  • Collaborate with faculty to innovate the accounting curriculum.
  • Engage in student mentoring and advising, participate in departmental and school service, and contribute to Whitman’s mission of experiential, career-ready education.
